Annex 21: This is a training post, which requires a significant level of academic study to achieve competence in role delivery, whilst undergoing training the successful candidate will be paid a percentage of the top of Band 6 and on completion of training will then move on to Band 6 scale.   

​​​​​​​The University Hospital Monklands is looking for a Biomedical Scientist to join the team on a part-time basis.

The post holder process a broad range of specialist and routine laboratory diagnostic investigations in Biochemistry using a range of scientific measurements and technical procedures on patient samples. Provides advice to clinicians and other healthcare staff as to the appropriateness of tests and time scales.

The post holder is responsible for own work and uses specialist training to operate complex equipment and solve problems and acts as a mentor to less experienced Biomedical Scientists and participates in the training /supervision of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.


KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is mandatory.

BSc honours degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent, which is acceptable for Health and Care Professions Council registration.

Formal evidence of specialist knowledge of a range of discipline-specific procedures.

Evidence of continuing professional development, for example, a specialist portfolio of development, attendance at specialist courses, training on new instrumentation and learning through reflective practice.
