NHS Lothian, Digital & IT, Desktop Support Officer

Based at the Astley Ainsley Hospital, Edinburgh though will require travel throughout the Lothian area.

This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a dedicated Desktop Migration IT team, ensuring high standards of preparing and imaging kit, delivery and installation, documentation, and working with a wide range of clinical applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work as part of the Digital and IT Desktop migration team to provide a desktop support service to all NHS Lothian customers, ensuring delivery of a service that meets user and organisation requirements, including Risk and Health and Safety standards.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of the current hardware and software used throughout NHS Lothian.
  • To diagnose and resolve complex desktop issues. Taking action, liaising with other teams or suppliers, and escalating as required and managing problems through to resolution.

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot desktop issues.
  • Configure, deploy, and support the desktop roll out in a windows 10 environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office365 packages, Active Directory, SCCM and Service Now call handling system.   
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to keep calm during potentially stressful situations.
  • A genuine curiosity and willingness to learn new skills and research new ideas.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organisation.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships throughout the organisation
  • Strong customer service skills, excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work on a wide range of issues.
  • Understand IT operational support frameworks including incident management and service level agreements.
  • Be positive, empathetic, enthusiastic, and confident to represent the Digital and IT Operations and infrastructure, along with NHS Lothian Values.
