Foundation Consortium Lead 

Scotland Deanery 

Hours: Part Time; 1 PA (4 hours per week) 

Duration: Fixed Term for 3 years in the first instance*

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.   

The Foundation Consortium Lead (FCL) is responsible for the overall management and support of a cohort of Foundation Programme Directors. FCLs are encouraged to be responsible for oversight of aspects of the Scottish Foundation Programme and be part of the senior educational leadership team. The FCL is responsible for ensuring that Foundation doctors are able to access a comprehensive range of experiences which will enable them to gain the competencies necessary for full registration and completion of Foundation training. 

The Applicant must be a Recognised trainer. They should be a Consultant, General Practitioner or Career Grade Doctor in Scotland who will be accountable to the Postgraduate Dean through the Associate Dean. He or she may also combine the role with that of an educational and/or clinical supervisor.
