The Medical Locum team coordinates short term and ad-hoc bookings for all supplementary medical staff within NHS Lothian. This includes doctors from FY2 to Consultant level, GPs, Dentists and Physician Associates.
We are looking for individuals who are hard working, reliable and dependable and able to work on an ad-hoc flexible basis, often at short notice. Please note that work can be varied across the Lothians and is not guaranteed.
The function of the Physician Associate (PA) is to provide high quality patient care in conjunction with the clinical teams.
Working under the supervision of a named physician, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, PAs will undertake physical assessments and history taking of patients and provide immediate care and initiate treatment as per clinical pathways/protocols, creating treatment plans as required.
PAs will provide high quality, safe and effective clinical and emergency care using established clinical guidelines in conjunction with the clinical teams.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
