The Clinical Coding Department are looking to recruit a Clinical Coder. Candidates require good communication skills and attention to detail, an understanding of Inpatient information and experience using Topas our Patient Administration System is essential. Good IT skills including experience and the ability to work to tight deadlines and respond to changing priorities are necessary.
You will need to be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn and a flexible approach within the work place. Clinical Coding involves the extraction of patient clinical information from various electronic systems, including Topas and Clinical Portal, assigning internationally recognised diagnostic and procedural codes to patient episodes following national standards and conventions. Knowledge of Anatomy and Terminology is desirable. These posts will be based in MHTC Dumfries, consideration for home working would be considered once candidate reaches a competent level of coding. You should have a clear understanding of the Patient Management System and good keyboard skills. You should have knowledge of Inpatient recording procedures and knowledge of medical terminology.
