Research Assistant


 Band 5 :             £24,670 to £30,742 per annum (pro rata) plus £1,298.39 High Secure Environmental Allowance(pro rata) per annum


Post details:    The post will support the managing violence and aggression study.


This is a study that seeks to explore patients, carers and staff perception of the process of managing significant violence and aggression in high (The State Hospital) and medium secure (Rowanbank, Orchard Clinic and Rohallion) forensic services in Scotland and Northern Ireland (Shannon).


The Research Assistant will be involved in the focus groups / one to one interviews with staff and carers from Scotland. The role will involve planning and liaising with other Principal Investigators to co-ordinate interviews and set up focus groups with staff, carers and patients across the four Scottish sites. There will also be communication with the Shannon Clinic in Northern Ireland by teleconference or video conference. It will also require compilation of policies and procedures, reviewing of existing literature, data entry, data analysis and report writing skills, with support and supervision provided by Helen Walker.
     
Qualifications/Experience: Although direct research knowledge and experience is not essential it is desirable. You must have the ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise your workload.
