This is a Fixed term post for 10 months

The Forensic Directorate is comprised of medium secure unit, low secure unit and forensic community mental health and learning disabilities team. Those working for the Forensic Directorate can work within any of these areas at any time.

The role of the speech and language therapist within the directorate:

  1. To be a highly experienced practitioner taking a lead role in the specialist area, managing complex and specialist caseload independently, providing expert clinical intervention – including assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating specialist SLT intervention.
  2. To provide teaching and advice to other professionals, SLTs, staff and family carers, undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  3. To undertake research, audit and development in specialist areas.
  4. To supervise the work of SLTs, SLT students and health care support workers.
  5. To be the sole speech therapist accountable for own professional actions.
  6. To provide specialist communication advice and consultation to wider NHS and other agencies

*A post holder at this level would be expected to have responsibility for caseload supervision of lower graded staff..
