Job Advert

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Due to service expansion, we are delighted to be advertising for a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our team. This new post will be based within the Drugs and Alcohol Recovery Service (DARS) Psychological Therapies service  This is an expanding service which creates an exciting, dynamic and creative environment in which to work. The post holder will have operational day to day oversight by the Principal Clinical Psychologist and Line Management from the DARS Head of Service.

You will be part of the DARS Psychological Therapies team which is managed within the wider DARS service.  The DARS Psychological Therapy Service is pan-Highland, providing direct clinical and in-direct input to several community DARS teams across North Highland.  Whilst much of the clinical work is currently conducted centrally or is technology-enabled, it does have a broad reach; therefore, there may be an expectation to travel across the region as, and when, required.

You will be involved in delivering assessment, formulation, individual therapy and groups to adults presenting with substance use and co-existing psychological problems.  There will be a specific remit of providing direct clinical care within Osprey House, Inverness for part of the working week.  You will contribute to the shaping and development of the post.

This post is full time (37.5 hours/week). However, variation to hours will be considered.  In order to support clinicians in the delivery of their role, we place a strong emphasis on governance and CPD and the post holder will have excellent opportunities for training, access to special interest groups, and supervision.

The applicant must be BABCP accredited or accredit able. We would welcome interest from those with experience of working in a substance use, adult mental health setting, where they have gained experience of adults presenting with substance use and associated mental health difficulties.

For informal enquiries, please contact: Dr Kirsty Macdonald, Clinical Psychologist, DARS Psychological Therapies (kirsty.macdonald@nhs.scot or 07812 468825)
