Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 Months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.  


we have an opportunity to be a patient pathway tracker you will be Working closely with all members of MDT and associated clerical staff, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring the timely and planned movement of cancer and suspected cancer patients through their journey from referral onwards. They will coordinate and monitor the investigation and treatment journey for urgent patients ensuring delays are pre-empted and resolved to enable the patients to receive treatment in line with national targets. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The role requires a developed understanding of patient administrative processes and the post holder is required to have developed skills, initiative and ability to seek resolutions and resolve problems. The post holder is responsible for prioritising and scheduling their own workload within the agreed parameters of the role. The post holder will negotiate with clinical staff within the divisional team or teams and have regular and open means of communication with the Directorate Support Manager and the relevant service managers to identify and highlight any potential problems relating to the patient's investigation, test result or treatment. This is essential to minimise and eliminate any delays to the patient journey and to contribute to continual improvement of service.

​​​​​​​KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • HND Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of administration experience within a hospital setting
  • Proficient in the use of Software systems
  • Advanced keyboard skills
  • Excellent Organisational and communication skills
  • Track record of ability to prioritise and problem-solve.
