An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Coach Assistants to join our Child Healthy Weight Team. You will join a dynamic team consisting of Health Coaches, Health Improvement Officer – Child Healthy Weight (CHW) and Consultant Dietitian in Public Health Nutrition (programme lead), to deliver CHW programmes to children and families in communities across Ayrshire and Arran.
Programmes are delivered to groups of children and parents and include activities on, physical activities for health, food for good health, changing behaviour, and are run during and after school hours in community settings. Some weekend work will be required on occasion. You will be responsible for delivering programmes / sessions to children and families in line with the programme plans and providing feedback on delivery of the programme to inform the ongoing delivery of the programme.
Candidates will have:
• An SVQ3 in a health related subject e.g. physical activity, exercise, sport or experience and competence equivalent to that qualification
• Enthusiasm, a positive approach and a genuine interest in health and people, particularly children and young people
• Experience of working with groups including children
• Ability to lead groups - physical activity sessions e.g. active play and to lead discussions on physical activity
• Ability to motivate others to participate in practical sessions
• Well organised, good time management.
This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity until 31 March 2024.
