The Public Health Department in Forth Valley seeks to appoint a keen and self-motivated individual to join our Public Health Team as a Specialty Doctor in Public Health (Health Protection). You can look forward to a warm welcome and strong support from colleagues.
The successful candidate will join the Directorate of Public Health and Strategic Planning, based at Carseview House, Castle Business Park, Stirling and will primarily work within the Health Protection Team (HPT) but also undertake health improvement and health care public health duties as required. 
Health Protection is the term used to encompass a set of activities within one of the three ‘domains’ of public health (health protection, health improvement and health service public health). It is defined as protecting individuals, groups and populations from single cases of infectious disease, incidents and outbreaks, and non-infectious environmental hazards.
The Continuing Professional Development needs of the successful candidate will be considered, for example, by incorporating career development in health protection and public health research, education or leadership projects in line with the Directorate objectives. 
The successful applicant would be joining at an exciting time for the team as we move to deliver a World Class Public Health System and work towards the implementation of a regional model for Health Protection services which will deliver a resilient, sustainable regional service maximising the skills of the workforce, reducing duplication and making provision for surge capacity and mutual aid.
    Applications for the position of Specialty Doctor in Public Health (Health Protection) are invited from doctors who have:
•    full registration with the General Medical Council; and a Licence to Practise
•    have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty        training programme in a relevant specialty 
•    or at least four years as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty
•    or have equivalent experience and competencies, 

There will be the opportunity to join the On-Call rota with appropriate supervision and training or to provide cover for extended hours.  There is always a consultant on call, including overnight and weekends.
