Significant experience of working in a facilities role is essential with experience of working in a health care environment desirable. Working as part of the Catering Team, the post holder will have supervisory responsibility for a team of Catering Assistants and is responsible for all aspects of food preparation, meal assembly, picking and packing of meal components, meal distribution to the service point, meal regeneration, wash up and cleaning duties and adhering to all aspects of Food Hygiene legislation.
The duties of this position ( although not restricted to ) include:
- Supervision of catering assistants to ensure work is carried out according to schedulesprovided.
- Supervise working practices to ensure they meet the Boards Health & Safety Policy and Food Hygiene Legislation according to instruction and training.
- Supervise work functions within the kitchen, retail and ward based service environments as directed by the Senior Catering Supervisor.
- Supervise the picking and packing of food for regeneration.
- Cook and prepare food for patients (diets and elements of standard patient menus), staff, visitors and hospitality
- Ensure the consistency of quality, taste and appearance of all food production and service related functions
- Participate in the distribution and process associated with Patient Satisfaction Surveys.
- Deal with complaints from staff or patients in relation to food services.
- Supervise patient meals regeneration and service ensuring consistently high levels of quality, presentation and appropriate quantity & temperature.
- Ensure all associated wash up following meals services are undertaken efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure food service staff are proficient in the meals regeneration process and the presentation of meals.
- Ensure all food is received, stored, dispatched, prepared, cooked, regenerated and served within temperature ranges as per H.A.C.C.P system
- Ensure maintenance, completion and verification of H.A.C.C.P system records
- Ensure stock rotation process is adhered to.
- Undertake a range of administrative functions.
- Maintain safe systems of work
- Ensure high standards of personal and general food hygiene are maintained
- Ensure staff maintain high standards of personal and general food hygiene
- Report any equipment/mechanical faults to Line Manager
- Ensure staff use equipment only as instructed
- Ensure all statutory and Board procedures are followed
- Assist the Senior Catering Supervisor with staff PDP process
- Support the Senior Catering Supervisor with induction training and thereafter ongoing work based, training as required
- Supervise & assist with patient meals picking/packing
- Monitoring COSHH & Risk Assessments
