There are a number of Full and Part time permanent and temporary positions have arisen within the Theatre and Anaesthetic departments in the North Sector of Glasgow (GG&C.)
The sites are primarily in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, voted the Best Hospital in Scotland (in top 200 worldwide for 2 years) and Stobhill ACH Hospital that delivers a ‘stand- alone’ Day Surgery facility.
North Glasgow Theatres offer opportunities to gain and develop specialist skills within regional service surgeries and anaesthesia. These includes Upper and Abdominal GI surgery, Robotic surgery, Burns and Plastics, Specialist Orthopaedic and Gynaecology surgery.
ACH Stobhill offers surgical experience inclusive of Orthopaedic, Ophthalmic, Gynaecological and surgical experience.
The Theatre & Anaesthetic areas offers exciting opportunities for staff development through clinical and vocational courses. There is a move to increase dual trained Theatre nurses in scrub and anaesthesia skill sets via in-house and University based courses.
As part of the multidisciplinary team you will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care and the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients within the perioperative department. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC trained in general nursing or adult nursing or OPD trained. Opportunities are also available for newly qualified staff.
You will provide clinical leadership for the assessment of patient needs, implementation and evaluation of care, which are evidence based. Utilising all available resources taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender and cultural background and ensure involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others. You will empower patients to take responsibility for their health, well-being and future lifestyle by practicing in an open, transparent and inclusive manner; thereby ensuring patients have the relevant information to participate in decisions about their care.
The ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of an integrated team is required. You are required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service which presently runs over a five day week. Furthermore, you will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service. As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be shortlisted for interview.
