An opportunity has arisen within NHS Highland Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, for community band 5 nurses. We are seeking suitably experienced registered nurses, who are enthusiastic, motivated and committed to working with young people who may have multiple and complex needs. You must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be willing to undertake educational and development activities.
You will be supported by the CAMHS nursing team through line management and supervision, as well as receiving additional support supervision
You must be able to demonstrate that you can work within a multi-disciplinary team. You would work in a challenging environment and expected to work within the Tier 4/Tier 3 team. The community nursing team is an integral part of CAMHS, working together with other members of the CAMHS team. The community mental health nurse team will liaise with and work across a broad and therefore diverse range of agencies and services. Following the mental health assessment process involving the parents and/or carers, the community mental health nurse will identify clinical need and formulate individual care and treatment plans which will include risk assessment and management planning; support will be provided by the band 6 nurse and CAMHS Nurse Lead to ensure safe practice.
The work will involve direct clinical contact with children and young people with severe and complex mental health problems/disorders and their family and carers within The Phoenix Centre, the community and Raigmore Hospital. The community nursing team will work closely with psychologists, psychiatrists and other nursing colleagues to deliver a specialist, comprehensive and therapeutic service, using their own initiative and acting autonomously when making clinical nursing decisions that are safe and effective in line with their professional nursing and midwifery (NMC) code of conduct.
The post holder needs the ability to work flexibly which might include working outside normal working hours according to the changing needs of the service but currently CAMHS provide a Monday to Friday 9-5 service.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Arlene Hall, CAMHS Lead Nurse, by telephoning the Phoenix Centre on 01463 705597 or email Arlene.hall1@nhs.scot
