Working to Executive Level in Scotland’s second largest Healthboard often means no week is the same for this team. The post holder’s responsibilities will impact on all NHS Lothian services, including all adult acute hospital sites, Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Mental Health and LD services, Primary Care & Community services and the three pan Lothian directorates: Women’s and Children’s, Diagnostics’, Anaesthetics, Theatres and Critical Care, Out-patients and associated services.

About the role

The post-holder will manage the delivery of effective performance management processes within the NHS Lothian Performance Framework. The role will ensure all business and operational plans align with NHS strategy and objectives, in addition to deploying a robust business management service for the Deputy Chief Executive Office.

You will coordinate and prioritise their delivery in line with the requirements of the wider team, leading on the day-to-day responsibilities and commitments to internal and external customers and stakeholders. The post holder is expected to build strong relationships with all operational divisions and corporate teams to support the delivery of performance for NHS Lothian.

Responsibilities may include supervision of staff and associated duties. You will work closely with members of the Executive Offices and you will benefit from the support of an established network of Business Managers and coordinate closely with these colleagues.

  • Develop and implement business plans, projects, change initiatives
  • Carry out business management duties and performance monitoring and reports
  • Support the delivery and development of improved performance across the organisation
  • Support, facilitate and monitor progress of project(s) within and across the organisation.

Location & Commitments

  • The hours of this post will be worked across core office hours Monday to Friday.
  • The postholder is employed within NHS Lothian, and their base will be Waverley Gate.
  • Mixed office and home working will be supported in line with NHS Lothian policy.
  • There may be a requirement to work flexibly across Lothian to meet service demands.

Candidate Requirements

  • The role would suit an enthusiastic individual with highly developed inter-personal communicative and presentational skills to inform, discuss and persuade staff members from all backgrounds.
  • Must have a high level of competency in using Microsoft Office Package.
  • This post’s workload will be fast paced and unpredictable so the candidate needs strong planning and organisational skills to manage the priorities on a daily basis.
  • It is important that you can demonstrate through experience a sound understanding and specialist knowledge in performance and business management.
  • Educated to post graduate degree level or equivalent experience
