Due to the secondment of a team member, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of an enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our clinical pharmacy team.  We are a forward thinking department which has Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HePMA) across our acute inpatient setting, keeping us at the forefront of healthcare provision.

The post holder will become part of one of the largest and most established Clinical Pharmacy Technician teams in Scotland and will assist the pharmacist in patient care by obtaining accurate medication histories from patients within the hospital, assessing the patient’s own medicine for use on the ward, and assessing the patient’s inpatient prescribing record against the medication history taken.  From this they will work with the pharmacist to identify medicine related issues.  The post holder will be involved in counselling patients at ward level on the use of various medications. The Clinical Pharmacy Technician team provides patient focussed pharmaceutical care to patients within admissions, medical, intermediate care and rehabilitation, obstetrics, gynaecology and paediatrics.

We are a friendly, dedicated and supportive team. Team building activities include our cake club, summer picnic, hill walking outings and hospital ball.

Post holders should hold a relevant technical qualification recognised for registration by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).  You should also hold PDCT/ACT qualification or be working towards this qualification.  Previous experience of the Clinical Pharmacy Technician role is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.  More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
