Distant Islands Allowance of £2,119 per annum pro rata
Healthcare Support Workers employed by NHS Shetland can apply to the Open University for a fully funded degree course (BSc with honours) to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse? Opportunities include careers in Shetland in Adult Nursing, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Children’s Nursing.
Over 4 years you will study remotely with the OU released from your current place of work for practice placements, whilst you continue to receive your salary as a HCSW. Work, Learn, Earn.

You must have HCSW contract for 26 hours (or willing to work 26 hours a week for practice experience), National 5 Maths and English or equivalent, good character and have support from your line manager to apply.
Once completed, you will be eligible to apply for any band 5 registered nurse position in the appropriate field of your degree. NHS Shetland have great opportunities for personal development and fast track career progression.
