Clinical Scientist
Permanent 37.5 hrs per week
Salary £43,422 to £50,506
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, registered Clinical Scientist to join the Laboratory Genetics department, which forms part of the West of Scotland Centre for Genomic Medicine. The department provides a high quality genetics service to the West of Scotland, population 2.7 million, and to the whole of Scotland through the Scottish Genetic Laboratories Consortium and the Scottish Molecular Pathology Consortium. Based at the state of the art Laboratory Medicine building at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, the Laboratory Genetics department is responsible for the testing of inherited genetic disease and acquired genetic disease (solid and haematological malignancy). You will join our team of >110 scientific and technical staff. You will be required to take responsibility for the testing and reporting of a range of somatic genetic disorders, working effectively with technical staff when doing so. You will authorise reports and carry out service development. Good communication, team working and supervisory skills are essential.
It is essential that you have a BSc (Hons) in a biological science and must be state registered in an appropriate discipline, with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Consideration may be given to scientists nearing completion of approved training programmes. You should have considerable experience in a genetics diagnostic laboratory with somatic disorders (haematological malignancy or solid tumour) and with diagnostic techniques.
The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm.
