This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy Support Worker to join our team within the UHA Pharmacy Department. The department provides a wide range of pharmacy services to patients across NHS Ayrshire and Arran.

You will be working in Near patient Dispensing and CAU and will have particular responsibility for the training of Support Workers and Trainee Pharmacy Technicians in this area, as well providing cover to off-site hospitals.

You will have evidence of significant hospital pharmacy experience and will have completed the in-house training in all areas of a pharmacy department.

You must possess the following:

  • SVQ level 2 Pharmacy Services full group award.
  • Completed on the job, pharmacy in house training programmes in all areas of rotation along with evidence of significant additional hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Experience to assess the competency and work of staff undertaking training against departmental training programmes and standard operating procedures. 
  • Communication skills (oral and written).
  • Good customer care skills.
  • Moderate arithmetic skills.
  • Demonstrate a sound underpinning knowledge base across all work areas within Pharmacy.
  • A working knowledge of NHS Ayrshire & Arran and department standard operating procedures.      

Driving Licence/access to a car (crown car may be available)is required.

​​​​​​​This post carries a contractual commitment to work on a shift system (which includes a commitment to cover 7 days including weekend and evening). You will also be required to participate in our Public holiday rotas.
