About the Organisation:
National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland (NHSS) providing support and advice at a strategic and operational level. NSS supports NHSS to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively and we offer shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards. Our priority is always the same – to improve the health and well-being of the people of Scotland. We do this by working in partnership with colleagues across Health and Social Care to deliver fit for purpose solutions and systems, delivering high quality services that help our stakeholders to free up resources so they can be re-invested into essential services.
The National Contact Centre (NCC) was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and has successfully delivered population scale services for COVID testing, contact tracing, isolation support including international travel, COVID vaccination and status certification. Over two and half years we have has delivered more than 10m customer interactions. The Directorate also supports the operational delivery of continued COVID testing pathways which remain essential in high risks settings, in health and social care, to support treatment pathways and as part of national surveillance programmes.
As Scotland has moved beyond the pandemic emergency response phase, the role of NCC has developed to support ongoing vaccination programmes including Flu and COVID, remaining targeted COVID testing pathways, the Warm Welcome to Scotland Ukrainian refugee service, and as a platform on which other non-clinical helplines can be deployed. COVD Testing operations is now focussed on high risk, treatment pathways and surveillance rather than population scale symptomatic or asymptomatic testing.
