What you'll do  

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be recruited to a critical role as the Director of Pharmacy /Postgraduate Pharmacy Dean for NHS Education for Scotland, which is the Statutory Education Body (SEB) in Scotland.  Building on a growing portfolio of national delivery, this role, is responsible for the overall strategy and vision of the NES Pharmacy Team within the Medical Directorate,  providing leadership and management of Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician education within NHS Scotland in line with national and professional policy. 

You will work  in partnership with Scottish Government, NHSScotland, Community Pharmacy Scotland, Higher Education Institutions, Further Education Colleges and appropriate national professional and regulatory bodies as well as undertaking a key corporate role as part of the wider delivery of NHS Education for Scotland.   

This role will have an extensive remit ensuring influence across the Scottish, GB and UK settings.  The role will enable and deliver against exciting new strategic responses in relation to workforce transformation, supporting across all sectors of practice to help meet the health and social needs of patients in Scotland.  You will have key role in driving forward educational reform in line with regulatory and professional requirements. 

A team including an Associate Director and Associate Postgraduate Pharmacy Deans also represent and lead on behalf of NES Pharmacy at relevant senior levels within Scotland as well as UK wide professional and government forums. 

We are seeking an exceptional leader, a registered pharmacist with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. You will have a proven track record of motivating, inspiring and developing teams, leading the continual improvement of Pharmacy services. 

What you'll bring   

We are seeking an exceptional leader, holding relevant qualifications (Master of Pharmacy degree or equivalent) as well as being currently registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and preferably holding a Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy and an educational qualification/ experience.  You will have significant and extensive senior mangement experience in Pharmacy leadership position(s) and a proven track record in the development and delivery of relevant education.    You will demonstrate the skills necessary to develop and utilise an extensive and complex professional network of contacts and relationships with government agencies, funding bodies, professional regulatory bodies, other education providers and the service.  The ability to analyse information, understand complex arguments, make judgments, reconcile competing demands, and negotiate with and influence others are key skills.  The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator and will have demonstrated clear evidence of success in their career. 

Please note that travel across the UK can be a business as usual requirement of this role and may require overnight stays.
