A rare opportunity has arisen for an individual to provide specialist intervention in our Hand Therapy service based within Ninewells Hospital. We are a busy teaching hospital providing hand therapy to both plastic and orthopaedic surgery services within Tayside. The post holder will gain experience working with both elective and trauma in a variety of specialist clinics with the support of experienced senior OT/PT therapists. This post is open to both occupational therapy and physiotherapy applicants.
The successful candidate will have a specialist interest in musculoskeletal hand therapy and be static in the Ninewells Hand Therapy Team. They will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and be expected to contribute to the development of the service. The candidate will have relevant experience working as an OT/PT within physical rehabilitation and possess excellent communication and decision-making skills.
You will have a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge, have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of more junior staff, support workers and students within the speciality, provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness and Research. The department has strong links with universities providing student placements primarily from Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
