Advanced Medical Training Fellowship, Clinical Training and Research in Cochlear Implantation and Skull Base Surgery
Applications are invited for the above 1 year post, commencing August 2020, which will be based primarily in University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock at the Scottish Cochlear Implant Programme, with additional sessions at the Institute of Neurosciences, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Glasgow.
The post is suitable for senior Otolaryngology Trainees who have, or are within 1 year of, their UK CCT or equivalent.
The duties/opportunities of the post include:
- Research and clinical training at the Scottish Cochlear Implant Programme. This will entail working with a multidisciplinary team consisting of clinical, scientific and rehabilitation staff. Advanced clinical training in cochlear implant surgery and attendance at multidisciplinary assessment clinics (MDTs) is also included.
- Advanced clinical training in extended otology/lateral skull base surgery and attendance at MDTs at the Institute of Neurosciences, Southern General Hospital Glasgow.
- Teaching and training at the Temporal bone laboratory at the University of Glasgow Anatomy department.
- Two sessions per week ENT clinic and participation in the middle grade ENT on- call rota at Crosshouse Hospital.
Dedicated scientific and clinical supervisors will be assigned to the successful applicant for all elements of this post.
