The Royal Alexandra Hospital Estates Department are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, resilient and hardworking Estates Manager to join the team at the RAH. The requirements of the post are to manage, supervise and support the staff who maintain a wide range of building services plant and equipment and were necessary, Provide technical expertise when required including operating and maintaining safe and efficient systems of work for all building services. Diagnose and repair faults in engineering and electrical equipment, building services, building fabric. Understand the working of the mechanical and electrical systems in NHS buildings. Work to NHS GG&C Health and Safety and SHTM Policies and Procedures. Undertake minor alterations and modifications to existing services. The post requires the applicant to have a degree in engineering or a building discipline as described in the attached Job Description. The successful individual will be either in a current AfC band 7 estates post or with the relevant educational qualifications and experience for this post. This post require a high level of knowledge, understanding and experience of complex electrical / engineering systems / water systems in large healthcare premises. Experience working in estates management and a good understanding of statutory compliance requirements and operational guidance within a healthcare environment is also necessary. The successful applicant will require good communication and management skills and have the ability to work to deadlines in an ever demanding environment. You will need to have the ability to work well unsupervised and provide leadership to those reporting to / working for you. The successful applicant will need to be able to work effectively as part of a team while fostering positive and co-operative relationships with all other groups and departments; internal and external to the organization. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 hrs and applicants will participate with on-call duties as part of the on-call team to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal hours are attended to as per the current local agreement. Designated individuals will require undertaking training to be certified as an Authorised Person undertaking specialist and refresher training as required to undertake the duties of the post.
It is a perquisite that applicants must have undertaken an apprenticeship in a core trade and are willing to undertake further training in non-core skills across all service requirements. |
