Sector Quality, Training & Point of Care Manager (Haematology/Blood Transfusion Department, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Laboratories, Glasgow).  Afc Band 8a

Salary £50,470 to £54,482                 37.5 hrs    Permanent Post

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the post of Sector Quality, Training and Point of Care Manager within the Haematology Department, South Sector, Glasgow. The post will be based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.  The post holder works with the Technical Services Manager and Sector Laboratory Manager to provide a Quality Management and Compliance role for the South Glasgow Haematology and Blood Transfusion service. The post holder is responsible for overseeing the Quality Management system to ensure the delivery of a service fit for purpose that represents the patients’ best interests and provides a highly specialised quality service in Haematology and Blood Transfusion.  The post holder is responsible for the establishment and implementation of all service policies and procedures that are required to meet the standards of UKAS for continued accreditation and the MHRA and also for development of the service.  The post holder will also be responsible for management of training within the service in South Glasgow Haematology. This will involve liaising with external bodies such as HCPC, IBMS and external education providers.  The post holder will also be responsible for management of Point of Care equipment associated with the laboratory across South Glasgow.  The knowledge, experience and training requirements for the position are as follows:
• State Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is mandatory.
• Healthcare Science Masters’ Degree (MSc), FIBMS or IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma.
• Extensive post State Registration experience, including experience as a senior Health Care Scientist.
• Management experience and knowledge appropriate to the post is required. This may be represented by a formal management qualification.
• Specialised scientific/technical knowledge is required by the post holder to perform their duties effectively and to advise others.
• Evidence of continuing professional development for example a portfolio of highly developed specialist knowledge, including management and service development.
• Good communication, planning, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate a high level of competence in problem solving and prioritising workloads.
• Trained in software packages to manipulate information and present data
• A Quality Management and/or Training qualification is desirable
