Advanced Clinical Pharmacist

Older People’s Service

Greater Glasgow and Clyde

Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Shift pattern for this position is 37.5 hours per week including participation in public holiday and weekend working, 8.30am-4.45pm.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an advanced clinical pharmacist within the Older People’s Service at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.  This new post will have a specific responsibility for the development of frailty pathways within the service, including acute receiving. The postholder will also contribute to developing advanced practice roles within the highly motivated clinical pharmacy team and deputise for the lead clinical pharmacist.

The management of frailty, including the development of integrated care pathways, is a high priority within the health board.  Another priority for the team is that funding has been received to provide sessions at a new heart failure clinic for patients with preserved ejection fraction, with patients due to be seen from April 23.  Other potential new clinic roles have been identified.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary is committed to the development of the pharmacy workforce in line with Moving Pharmacy Forward A Strategic Framework 2021-2026 and in addition to undertaking personal professional development the postholder will be expected to provide support to experiential learning students, trainee pharmacists and post-registration foundation pharmacists. The postholder would be encouraged to work towards advanced practice credentialing and mentor specialist pharmacists who are also progressing through the curriculum.

Good communication skills and a broad based clinical knowledge are essential.

You will have a minimum of five years’ experience, have completed an MSc or equivalent and be committed to continuing professional development.

You will be required to participate in on-call, weekend and public holiday services.
