Part time (from 18.75) – Full time posts are available as Scrub nurses/ ODP
There are a number exciting positions that have arisen within the Theatre and Anaesthetic departments within Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI), voted the Best Hospital in Scotland (in top 200 worldwide) for the last 2 years.
These posts are both within Theatre and anaesthetics with an opportunity to become dual trained in these areas.
You will work within a team of over 320 staff members and 28 theatres including 2 emergency theatres that run 24/7.
Within GRI there are opportunities to gain and develop specialist skills within regional service surgeries and anaesthesia. These includes Upper and Abdominal GI surgery, Burns and Plastics, Specialist Orthopaedic and Gynaecology surgery. The Theatre & Anaesthetic offers exciting opportunities for staff development through clinical vocational course and working towards making North Glasgow the first Theatre Academy in GG&C
No experience within Theatre is necessary as there is a robust training programme for new trained staff to this speciality.
The Theatre & Anaesthetic offers exciting opportunities for staff development through clinical vocational course and working towards making North Glasgow the first Theatre Academy in GG&C. As part of this team your continuing development is forefront with access to further education and leadership development with internal support with vocational modules via SVQ scheme and yearly grants available for conference contributions or Master programmes. There is a robust career structure within Theatres North.
As part of the multidisciplinary team you will have responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care, and the implementation and evaluation of these programmes. This ensures the delivery of high quality care to patients within the Theatre department.
The ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of an integrated team is required. You are required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service which presently runs over a 7 day week with night shift in the Emergency Theatres (rotation as part of post)
Furthermore, you will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service. As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be shortlisted for interview
