Head of Programme – Foundation Year Optometry
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Duration: Permanent

Who We Are
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
What you'll do
Key tasks will include but are not restricted to;
Postholder will line manage and project manage the Foundation Year workstream.
The postholder will lead ongoing quality improvement and assurance of the agreed training programme: this will require robust impact measurement, with performance indicators identified
The postholder will be responsible for the detailed management of budget associated with this new workstream. This will include close working with financial colleagues, as well as regular reporting to SG around spend and deliverables.
The post holder will be required to maintain close relationships with, and learn from, teams delivering foundation level training to other related professions – both internally and externally to NES.
Postholder should have robust academic experience around delivery of qualifications; preferably with experience of approvals processes within HEIs and with the professional regulator.
What you'll bring
These will include but are not restricted to;
Masters’ qualification or equivalent in relevant discipline
Registered with the General Optical Council
Significant leadership experience working with executive and senior management teams in complex environments.
Experience and understanding of educational quality assurance and the healthcare / education sector in the UK
Experience in developing and delivering a range of training programmes
Significant experience of managing large and complex projects/programmes.
The Post holder must have the skills necessary to develop and utilise an extensive and complex professional network of contacts and relationships with government agencies, funding bodies, professional regulatory bodies, other education providers and the Service
Proven and demonstrable ability to function and support others within the context of a rapidly changing environment
Experience of budget management, financial forecasting and control.
