INSTITUTE OF DENTISTRY

CLINICAL TEACHING FELLOW IN DENTISTRY

REF: DEN041A

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Dental Surgeons, registered with the General Dental Council, for the role of Clinical Teaching Fellow in Dentistry at Aberdeen Dental Hospital and Institute of Dentistry.

We have up to 2.9 FTE available to the right applicants. We are keen to hear from applicants who are looking for employment from 0.1 FTE to 1 FTE. The initial focus of the roll will be the provision of clinical supervision to our BDS students and delivery of teaching within the BDS curriculum. There may also be some involvement with our Dental Technology curriculum.

The role holder(s) will be supported in their role by experienced academic, clinical and professional services support colleagues within the Institute, NHS Grampian and the wider University.

You will join our team running the graduate entry BDS curriculum & Dental Technology curriculum in the Institute of Dentistry. You will be an enthusiastic clinician who will ideally have some experience in delivering both clinical and didactic teaching as well as supervision of student clinics or early career colleagues within a dental school or vocational training environment.

When supervising our students, you would be expected to work across our student patient clinics at the Institute. You would work with a colleague, supervising up to 12 students between you, allowing excellent staff: student teaching ratios.

The post holder will have the opportunity to engage in career development activities as part of their weekly timetable including enrolling on postgraduate programmes at the University of Aberdeen.

You will be employed with the University of Aberdeen and an honorary contract will be sought with NHS Grampian. Full time members of our team will ideally take on direct patient care within the building.

All applicants must be fully registered with the General Dental Council, UK with significant experience in delivering primary care dentistry.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Clinical Scale for Academics below the level of Consultant, £38,704 - £57,349 per annum, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

Informal enquiries should be made to Professor Khaled Khalaf, Director of Institute of Dentistry (khaled.khalaf@abdn.ac.uk / 01224 555154) or Dr Rosa Moreno Lopez, Education Lead (r.m.lopez@abdn.ac.uk / 01224 559641).

This post does not meet the minimum requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. We are therefore unable to consider applicants for this post that require sponsorship to work in the UK.
