This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, compassionate and resilient  Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Addictions Psychological Therapies Service (APTS).

The APTS is a highly motivated, friendly and committed team of psychologists. The team consists of Assistant Psychologists, a Clinical Associated in Applied Psychology (CAAP) as well as clinical and counselling psychologists and varying grades.

APTS provides highly specialist, evidence-based group and individual interventions aimed at addressing underlying psychological causes of problematic substance use behaviour. Trauma-specific interventions are delivered in accordance with the phase-based model of complex trauma.
APTS also provides specialist neuropsychological assessment to identify cognitive barriers to recovery thereby informing care planning.

Via a combination of working closely with partner agencies and actively with service users as well as delivery of consultation, training, coaching, supervision and group work APTS aims to:

•    Reduce self and institutional stigma
•    Promote a compassionate, trauma-informed understanding of substance use
•    Increase access to low intensity psychosocial interventions and psychologically informed care
•    Ensure psychological therapy is included as part of a broader recovery plan
•    Ultimately reduce barriers to health care and contribute towards a reduction in drug related deaths

One of the key aims of this role is to work in close partnership with medical and nursing colleagues to develop and deliver a specialist clinic where patient needs will be viewed via psychological formulation. The role will also involve provision of consultation, staff training and supervision as well as direct and efficient access to higher level psychological interventions as required. The post holder will be involved in service development and research evaluating the service improvement initiative.

You will join the Fife Psychology Service: a large (105wte clinical staff) multi-specialty service, with extensive involvement in training, research and service development. Close links with Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee and St. Andrews Universities’ D. Clin. Psychand MSc courses continue and professional development, CPD and service-based researchactivity is well supported. You will take an active part in the Area Psychology Service, seeking opportunities for professional development and contributing to that of others.
