As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will provide care to patients in support of the trained nurse and will regularly work unsupervised. 
Responsible within national service for paediatric cardiac services to the whole of Scotland, catering for children and young people from birth to 16 years old.  The ward exists as the only centre providing cardiac care for children in Scotland.  Dimensions of the ward include; 14 inpatient beds, 10 single cubicles and 1 four bedded bay.
In-patient facility caters for 24-hour emergency admissions for children requiring both medical and surgical intervention.  

  1. Assignment of work will be by Senior Charge Nurse / Registered Nursing Staff.
  2. The post holder will work supervised and exercise initiative within the scope of the role when providing patient care, however, a registered nurse will be available for advice and guidance.
  3. To provide patient care in support of a registered nurse to ensure delivery of a high quality of patient care.
  4. Record and report patient observations in care plans to ensure maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records.
  5. Accurate documentation of delivered and planned nursing care ensuring countersignature by registered nurse.
  6. Ensure patients receive appropriate help with feeding and complete fluid balance charts as necessary.
  7. Delivery of nasogastric feeding

It is essential that you have an SVQ 3 or equivalent and that you have basic literacy and numeracy skills.
