Macmillan Genetic Counsellor, Band 7/Trainee Annex 21 Paragraph 2 (iii)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Genetic Counsellor to join a small, friendly and supportive team of Genetic Counsellors in the East of Scotland Clinical Genetics Service based in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
The successful applicant will work as part of the team delivering a comprehensive service including the provision of outreach clinics. The post will cover mainly cancer but there will be the opportunity to practice in a wide range of genetic conditions.
The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the teaching programmes and research projects within the department. They will also contribute to the development of services in accordance with the requirements of the department.
For appointment at Band 7 applicants should be registered with the Genetic Counsellor Registration Board (GCRB) or be working toward registration.
Consideration may be given to appoint at entry level/ trainee level under Annex 21 conditions. For this the applicant should have, or be about to complete, an MSc in Genetic/Genomic Counselling or be an experienced nurse or midwife with current NMC registration and a first or masters level degree. Academically accredited counselling skills training and completion of a science course in human genetics would be an advantage.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
