THE TEAM

The team is the Prescribing Support Unit (PSU) within NHS Tayside’s Pharmacy Department in Kings Cross Hospital, although the location for this post can be flexible.  PSU serves the entire organisation with support for prescribing efficiencies, medicines governance and introduction of new medicines.  PSU is a small and friendly team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, prescribing support nurses and administrative staff.  We work closely with finance and clinical teams to provide routine and bespoke reporting and advice to support high quality practice.

YOUR ROLE

As a Specialist Pharmacist for Prescribing Support and Medicines Governance, you will provide professional advice and support to underpin high quality, safe and cost effective prescribing.  You will also develop expertise in the supply, prescribing and management of controlled drugs and non-medicines.  This role works closely with the Lead Pharmacist, Prescribing Support as well as the Specialist Pharmacy Technician, Prescribing Support Nurses and Controlled Drug Inspection Officer and will provide line management support to agreed PSU team members 

ABOUT YOU

You are able to evaluate and understand complex prescribing queries and apply your experience to find solutions.

You have good attention to detail and you are able to work efficiently without detailed guidance.

You are able to work proactively with prescribing data to provide appropriate feedback to prescribers and service leads.

A good general understanding of current prescribing issues and medicines governance is desirable and applications are welcomed from candidates with relevant experience from any background within the pharmacy profession.
