An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant Cardiologist to join a well-established cardiology team within NHS Ayrshire and Arran.
The integrated Cardiology service in Ayrshire and Arran comprises a team of 9 Consultant Cardiologists. Six of these consultants currently have a practice based wholly in NHSAA whilst the others undertake clinical activity in NHSAA as well as the Golden Jubilee National Hospital and as part of the West of Scotland Primary PCI Service hosted by NHS Lanarkshire.
The base for this post is University Hospital Ayr (UHA), however the expectation is that the postholder will undertake clinical work across both UHA and University Hospital Crosshouse (UHC).
The successful candidates will play an important role in the continuing development of cardiology services in NHSAA. Key priorities for the service include;
• Development of a CTCA service
• Introduction of cardiologist of the week and day unit model at UHA
• Consolidation of the cardiologist of the week and day unit model at UHC
The terms and conditions of service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004. The posts are offered on a 10 programmed activity basis, but opportunities exist for Extra Programmed Activities to be undertaken subject to service requirements and in accordance with national terms and conditions of service. The post also includes participation in the pan-Ayrshire out-of-hours cardiology on-call rota (1:7). Applications from individuals who may wish to work on a part-time or job share basis will be considered.
All applicants will be appropriately experienced with Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice. Applicants should have you will also be required to be a certified IMER practitioner.
