NHS Highlands Vaccination Transformation Programme is underway, and we are continuing to look for a variety of skill-sets to support the Health Board's lifespan vaccination programmes across Lochaber.
NHS Highland is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Registrant to deliver lifespan vaccination programmes across the Lochaber area in a new and growing service. We provide vaccinations to preschool children and babies; school aged children, flu, and Covid and ad-hoc vaccinations.
Candidates must have good organisational skills and be great communicators. You are required to be flexible and work collaboratively in a small team. You will attend the varied vaccination clinics and provide high quality vaccination advice and nursing care support to patients of all ages. Previous experience in public health promotion and community based clinics is desirable but not essential.
Our Nurse Vaccinators will work as a part of a multi-professional team, safely and effectively delivering various vaccinations. You will be responsible for preparing and administering the vaccine to citizens and staff in a number of delivery settings. In particular, you will be responsible for:
Configuration of their vaccination station
Reconstituting the Vaccine (vaccine dependent)
Preparing single doses of the vaccine for administration (vaccine dependent)
Administration of the vaccine
Adherence to infection control practices between individuals, including PPE use
Disposal of clinical waste as per local and national protocols and guidelines
Adherence to data protection and information governance standards
Demonstrates care and compassion to patients, carers and relatives to help ensure high-quality person-centred patient care is delivered at all times
Recording of accurate administration records using Turas VMT tool
The posts are based in the Medical Centre in Fort William but the work covers a geographic area that covers from Mallaig to Fort Augustus and Kilchoan to Ballachulish.
