The Aberdeen ECMO team have an exciting opportunity for the ECMO Lead Nurse position.
Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is a highly specialised advanced life support system acting as a modified form of heart lung bypass facilitating the support of adults with severe respiratory or cardio-respiratory failure who have failed maximum conventional therapies.
As part of the adult respiratory ECMO provision within the UK, Aberdeen Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has become the designated Scottish centre. This makes up a provision of six commissioned UK adult respiratory ECMO centres nationally. The service is to provide support for approximately thirty ECMO patients per annum with capacity of three ECMO patients at any one time and this is supported by the Scottish Government. In times of surge, work with the UK network and NHS Grampian management teams to ensure safe provision of care. Patients may be referred and retrieved from anywhere in the UK and can be admitted 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
The role of the ECMO lead nurse is to lead and develop this new team through the process of change; demonstrating tenacity, professional integrity, drive and perspective. Continuing to build strong links within the UK national network.
This position is offered as Full time hours, 37.5 hours a week.
An attractive relocation allowance up to £8,000 is available to successful candidates.
