An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse to join our Clyde Surgical Specialties Upper GI Team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. The main focus being on patients with benign disease. As this is a new position, the post-holder will take a lead role in the ongoing development and support of the Upper GI benign surgical service within the Clyde remit. The Upper GI CNS post is key in the coordination of our benign service, patient education, data input and improved patient outcomes for those patients admitted with Upper GI disease requiring investigations/treatments and follow up.
The post holder will be responsible for working within a multi-disciplinary team to provide and facilitate comprehensive, co-ordinated and effective care and treatment for patients with Upper GI benign disease. It is recognised that this may be achieved either directly through personal contact with the patient, or indirectly through a combination of, or focus on, one of the following: leadership, facilitation, teaching, research/audit, consultation and provision of hospital wide Upper GI based nursing policies and protocols.
Applicants will be a Registered Nurse on the NMC Register with extensive surgical nursing experience and a good level of knowledge of benign and other upper GI conditions. Further training or qualifications related to benign Upper GI disease would be advantageous. The post holder is expected to provide cover across both RAH & IRH sites, working 37.5 hours over 5 days Monday - Friday.
