Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week - fixed term will be considered) post based in East Lothian Community Hospital.

We seek to appoint a highly-motivated Clinician with an enthusiasm for Older Adult Psychiatry. The post holder will be welcomed into a friendly and forward thinking multi disciplinary team.

This is a post covering the older adult population of East Lothian, currently some 21,000 people.

There is a 20 bedded ward in East Lothian Community Hospital with a dynamic and caring inpatient team.  They work closely with the experienced community mental health team.  Both provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary care comprising nursing, MH Occupational Therapists, mental health support workers, activity coordinators, therapists and administrative staff with input from Social Work. Mental health provision to older adults in the area is led by two substantive consultants, both of whom will provide the post-holder with clinical supervision.

The service provides support and expertise in community, inpatient and care home settings.  

The post holder will be based in Oak Tree Ward, assessing and managing patients, completing mental health act duties and supervising junior members of staff.  The post holder will also contribute to liaison reviews for the Medicine of the Elderly wards in East Lothian Community Hospital, and acute community work.  The successful candidate will be supported to attend clinical teaching, group meetings, and CPD.

Applicants must have completed at least four year's full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent) with a broad general psychiatry and other sub-specialty Old Age Psychiatry experience.

This post is offered as 9 PA's per week plus one SPA. Research proposals, which are in line with service requirements, would be considered favourably. Applications for flexible working will be considered.
