Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in NHS Lothian are currently embarking upon a service redesign supported by £4.1 million of additional investment. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking registered mental health or learning disability nurse who wishes to contribute to our vision of “Getting it right for every child” and young person with mental health problems. There are opportunities to develop and consolidate skills in the assessment and treatment of a range of mental health presentations such as neurodevelopmental disorders, eating disorders, mood and psychotic disorders. CAMHS in Lothian has a developing and expanding training and clinical pathway for nurses with recent appointments of a Nurse Consultant, Psychological Therapists and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
Post holders who are new to CAMHS will have the opportunity to undertake the NES “New to CAMHS” training over a 12 month period. NHS Lothian CAMHS has it’s own training budget and regularly organises internal and external training events for CAMHS clinicians.
Our home is in Edinburgh, one of the best cities to live in the UK. A vibrant city of festivals and culture, sport and history, breath taking historic landmarks with glorious countryside and sailing at Port Edgar just 30mins from the City Centre. Excellent rail links via East Coast Line and an International Airport of Scotland. Yet a few miles away you could not be further from the city in the beautiful Pentland Hills or picturesque seaside towns of East Lothian. Midlothian CAMHS is just 20-30 minutes from the town centre and has easy access to parking.
