NHS Lothian

How would you like to support a major organisational change taking place in one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK? You’ll work closely with dynamic and enthusiastic professionals who are committed to making a difference.

The programme of realistic medicine in NHS Scotland involves embedding a patient-centred approach that focuses on improving communication between patients and healthcare providers. It aims to encourage shared decision-making, considering patients' values and preferences, and promoting more effective use of resources. The programme encourages clinicians to explore non-pharmacological interventions, patient education, and self-management strategies. It also supports innovative technologies and digital solutions that can support more personalized and efficient care. Through this approach, the programme aims to promote a culture of patient empowerment, trust, and partnership across all areas of healthcare delivery in Scotland.

Our Commitment

Based in the centre of Edinburgh, but with travel across Lothian, you’ll be part of an inclusive and innovative Realistic Medicine team, with clear links to Corporate Teams such as Strategic Planning and Sustainability & Value. As an ever changing and successful healthcare organisation, NHS Lothian offers fantastic learning opportunities allowing you to build a skill set and gain experiences which are a foundation for an exciting and prosperous career.

Join Us

We are now looking to recruit an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the work of the Realistic Medicine Team and to manage and oversee components of implementation of the Realistic Medicine programme within NHS Lothian.

As a Project Manager for Realistic Medicine, you will lead the planning, coordination and, in some cases, delivery of high-quality projects that will transform the way we deliver healthcare. You will work closely with clinicians, patients, and other stakeholders to ensure that our projects are aligned with our Realistic Medicine principles.

This is a new and exciting post, hosted within the Sustainability and Value Team, but assigned to the Realistic Medicine Lead; and with formal links to the Head of Strategy Development. You will be able to influence the development of the role, working closely with the RM team.

We are looking for individuals who have proven experience as a project manager or similar role within the healthcare sector, preferably within the NHS Scotland; as well as knowledge and understanding of Realistic Medicine principles.

Be Different

Our success begins with you; with NHS Lothian you’ll have the chance to make a real difference to frontline health services. This is an excellent opportunity to join an internationally renowned healthcare organisation with a track record of innovation and strong teaching and research links. We have over 24,000 staff providing and supporting first class acute, specialist and community services both locally and to patients from throughout .
