The Property Department of NHS Tayside is looking for an individual to fill the post of Fire Safety Manager.
The primary duty of the Fire Safety Manager is to reduce the risk of harm from fire for staff, patients and others who attend and use healthcare premises.
The post holder will provide specialist technical advice to NHS Tayside senior managers and staff on all aspects of fire safety to ensure the Board meets compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements and NHS Tayside’s Fire Safety Policy.
The Fire Safety Manager will through the effective management of a team of Fire Safety Advisors, assist NHS Tayside in fulfilling its obligations to minimise the occurrence of fire and ensure the safety of any persons resorting to Board premises and NHS Tayside personnel who work in premises that are not owned or operated by the Board.
As the lead specialist for fire safety, the Fire Safety Manager will ensure the provision of advice on a range of projects including new premises and refurbishment to existing premises by surveying, evaluating and reviewing plans to ensure legal and mandatory compliance.
The post holder has responsibility for ensuring fire safety related projects and remedial actions are monitored for progress and relevant reports are developed and presented to executive and non executive members of NHST Board, senior officers and associated groups and committees.
To lead, manage, inspire, direct and support the continuing professional development of the Fire Safety Division and fully participate at a local, regional and national level in pursuit of a safe healthcare environment.
The post holder must be educated to degree level and be a member of a relevant professional body with demonstrable and relevant management experience at a senior level.
The post offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Property Department and the Facilities Directorate performance and reputation both within the organisation and in the wider NHS arena and requires commitment and drive to ensure that all fire related aspects of strategic and operational projects and tasks are developed and delivered with professionalism and dedication in a pressurised and changing environment.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
