We are seeking a full-time Practice Manager for 37.5 hours per week to oversee the day-to-day operations of our medical practice and the delivery of Primary care GP services. Southern Machars Practice caters for 3,173 patients in a small coastal town in Whithorn and also a Dispensing Branch in Port William. Our Practice consists of 1 GP, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 Health Care Support Worker and 4 Receptionists as well as 3 Dispensers and 3 Receptionists at the Port William Branch.
The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills, strategic thinking, business management and organisational skills with good finance, human resources and IT knowledge. Prior NHS Primary Care and managerial experience is essential.
Key roles and responsibilities include (very broad narrative, full description given in the job description):
• Being actively involved in staff training and recruiting new staff
• Maintaining good working relationships
• Managing IT and communications of the practice
• Participating in meetings such as PM Forum, GP Forum, GP Cluster
• Overseeing patient services, list size, registrations, demand and staff availability
• Maintaining practice financial accounts, operating payroll, liaising with accountants
• Maintaining premises and equipment
• Handling complaints and managing critical events
• Ensure the practice complies with contractual obligations and understanding of the GMS Contract
• Working collaboratively with the Health Board
Post: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Annual Leave Entitlement: On appointment – 27 days (202.5 hours) + public holidays – 8 days (60 hours) pro rata
After 5 years service – 29 days (217.5 hours) + public holidays – 8 days (60 hours) pro rata
After 10 years service – 33 days (247.5 hours) + public holidays – 8 days (60 hours) pro rata
