Consultant Cardiologist

Golden Jubilee Hospital (GJNH)​​​​​​​

Summary of the Post

The appointee will provide consultant leadership as part of a committed senior medical team in Cardiology of 3 full time consultants with additional rotational consultant input from the Golden Jubilee National Hospital (GJNH).

This post has been developed with the GJNH and includes 2 cardiac Imaging (CTCA/CMRI – to be agreed with successful candidate) sessions per week based at GJNH.

Participation in the Clyde out of hours cardiology rota on a 1:8 basis is required.

The job plan comprises ward cover (J South), CCU cover, ward referrals, supervision of outpatient investigations including echocardiography, implantation of LINQ recorders, TOE, PPM insertion and cardioversion as well as the commitment at GJNH.

There is an ongoing interest within the department for support of junior doctors and supervision of a Clinical Fellow with an interest in Echocardiography. Many of the consultants have experience in support and induction of international graduate colleagues into the NHS and welcoming them to our hospital.

There is an established Heart Failure Liaison service and plans to develop an ambulatory heart failure pathway for the area. In addition, there is a current recruitment drive to appoint and develop the role of Cardiology ANPs across Clyde

Suggested job plan

This job plan is negotiable with a view to supporting interests and helping the individual achieve their potential. It will be agreed between the successful applicant and the Clinical Director.  Inverclyde Royal Hospital would initially offer new appointments to the consultant team 10 PA’s, of which 8 are direct clinical care and 2 SPA .The precise allocation of SPA time and associated objectives will be agreed with the successful applicant and will be reviewed at annual job planning. EPAs for additional activities of interest may be available.
