This post is an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual to join the Health & Safety, Manual Handling Team within the Workforce Directorate.  You will be based at Kings Cross Hospital but be required to travel throughout Tayside and Fife.

We are looking for an individual who is already a manual handling trainer/competency-based assessor for their local area and looking to develop their manual handling skills further. The post holder will work with a team and be able to demonstrate excellent communication and facilitation skills to promote and sustain the delivery of a high standard, Scottish Manual Handling Passport (2014) of training and support of significant numbers of staff in manual handling link roles. In this role, you will work as part of a team delivering training to student nurses from the University of Dundee and Abertay University, NHS Tayside staff, as well as external clients. You will be involved in the delivery of corporate manual handling induction and many other specialised workshops and courses.

You will also be expected to assist NHS Tayside to meet its responsibilities under Health & Safety legislation in relation to the management of manual handling risks at work. This is primarily a training role but occasionally may involve giving practical support to staff on manual handling issues that arise.

You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills alongside possessing good IT and organisational skills that are required for the ongoing development of learning materials. You will be required to give evidence of ongoing learning and development and will be expected to participate in continuous learning and development suited to the area of training and manual handling.

You will have to evidence relevant work experience within a clinical setting in the management of manual handling risks and training requirements and be confident and credible in developing and making presentations.

You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.  

You are required to meet as a minimum the essential criteria in the person specification.
