Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in St John’s Hospital.

Working with an enthusiastic team of clinicians in a vibrant, rapidly developing, and supportive psychiatry service, these posts offer the opportunity to develop clinical and professional competence in a purposeful and supervised manner.

These posts are aimed at CT3+ level and open to Drs who are about to or have recently completed a core training programme or have equivalent relevant experience.

In addition, the clinical development will be combined with supervised and directed opportunity linked to an area of mutual professional interest including clinical teaching and simulation, quality improvement and safety, and clinical leadership development.

The West Lothian Mental Health Service is an integral part of the mental health service across Lothian, operationally managed by the four Health and Social Care Partnerships, Integrated Joint Boards, and Royal Edinburgh and Associated Services (REAS). St John’s Hospital in Livingston is the core inpatient and outpatient base for the local service.

Mental Health Services in West Lothian
A comprehensive range of mental health services are provided to the population of West Lothian across the age range from CAMHS, general adult and old age psychiatry services. Specialist services provided locally in West Lothian include psychiatric rehabilitation, substance misuse and psychiatric liaison. In addition St John’s Hospital is the site for regional (South East Scotland) inpatient services for eating disorders (REDU), perinatal mental health (Mother and Baby Unit) and the Scotland wide mental health service for the deaf. Other specialist services provided on behalf of West Lothian by Royal Edinburgh and Associated Services (REAS) include psychodynamic psychotherapy, out-patient services for eating disorders (Cullen Centre), the specialist trauma service (Rivers Centre) and forensic psychiatry (including medium secure services at the Orchard Clinic).
