Applications are invited from candidates who hold a NEBOSH diploma or equivalent or are working toward these qualifications.

Successful candidates who hold the diploma or equivalent qualification will be appointed to the band 6 posts.

Successful candidates working toward the above qualifications will be appointed at band 5 post as a development post with progression to the band 6 post once the NEBOSH diploma or equivalent qualification has been achieved.

Band 5

Salary: £30,229 to £37,664

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde for Health and Safety Practitioners to join our dedicated Health and Safety Department.

The post holder will provide competent advice and guidance to staff and managers regarding Health and Safety and to support a strong safety culture to ensure the best possible safe working environment for staff and care for patients.           

The successful candidate will provide specialist Health and Safety advice ensuring that the highest standards of health, safety and welfare are maintained for both staff and patients. In addition, you will ensure that all statutory requirements are complied with in line with NHS GGC policies and guidance.

Applicants should have in-depth knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislation and the practical application required to provide expert health and safety advice, training and guidance to all staff within NHS GGC.

As training and communication will form a large proportion of the posts activities, excellent presentation and communication skills are necessary.

Candidates should be educated to National Examination Board of Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) diploma or equivalent and hold a Chartered Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or working towards it.

Experience of implementing and auditing Health and Safety Management Systems and relevant training is desirable.

Experience of working in highly regulated sectors such as healthcare is desirable.

The shift pattern is dayshift Mon – Fri with a flexible blended approach between home and site depending on activity. ​​​​​​​
