The Post: 

We have an exciting opportunity for two Public Health Librarians to join our Knowledge Services Team within Public Health Scotland, Scotland’s lead national agency for improving and protecting the health and wellbeing of all of Scotland’s people. This post is part of the Knowledge and Research Services Team, which sits in the Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate. 

The Candidate:

One post-holder will provide professional knowledge services to internal and external customers, including advanced literature searching and summarisation, information skills training and current awareness services, as well as information and knowledge management advice and support for corporate projects. 

The other post will provide dedicated information management support to the UK and Scottish COVID-19 Inquiries programme of work. They will work with colleagues across PHS to identify, collate, organise, manage and submit COVID-19 related documentation to the Public Inquiries, working with a small team of Knowledge Services staff to develop and improve processes to ensure the smooth running of the information management work stream.

You will have a degree or postgraduate qualification in library/information studies and proven experience working within a library and/or information environment, together with experience of working on information and/or knowledge management projects. You will have excellent project management skills, communication skills, digital and IT skills, and knowledge of bibliographic databases, reference management software and a range of information management systems. 

We are looking for someone with a flexible approach, good attention to detail and a helpful and friendly manner, who will thrive as part of a busy team. 

Location and Working Pattern:

Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Meridian Court, Glasgow, with a flexible approach to working at home.

Please note that PHS is currently in the process of relocating from Meridian Court to another Glasgow City Centre location, to be confirmed.

Currently hybrid working.

Work pattern - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
