Full Time, Fixed term/Secondment until September 2024

£46,244 - £53,789 (Band 7)

Glasgow/Edinburgh - hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future.

The remit of the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) is to provide advice to NHS Boards and their Area Drug and Therapeutic Committees (ADTCs) across Scotland about the status of all newly licensed medicines, all new formulations of existing medicines and new indications of established products.

As an SMC Health Services Researcher you will be employed by Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) and based within SMC to provide research and evaluation support to the SMC team.  The post holder will also have close links to the HIS Knowledge and Information Unit.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Health Services Researcher who has practical experience of undertaking literature reviews and critical appraisal and also able to evaluate and incorporate expert clinical comments into formal reports.

The post holder will be required to support all key functions within SMC including the new medicines assessment process and activities arising from reviews into access to new medicines, such as the Patient and Clinician Engagement process.

The position requires an experienced, clear thinking and methodical researcher with a broad range of research skills, and excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. In addition to a numerate or biomedical discipline degree, the post holder(s) will be expected to have a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject and/or have extensive health services research experience. Knowledge of clinical research methodology is desirable.
