The National Risk & Resilience Department (NRRD) is based at Newbridge, Edinburgh. The purpose of the Department is to provide a comprehensive, effective and robust organisation-wide structure for risk management, integrated emergency planning, business continuity management and specialised operational response. The NRRD manages a logistics facility, a training facility and also directly manages the three full-time Special Operations Response Teams.
The Department works directly with the Scottish Government and an extensive network of external organisations responsible for strategic developments on a Scottish and UK level.
Based in Newbridge, reporting to the Regional Resilience Advisor (East) and working primarily within the Lothian, Borders, Fife & Forth Valley areas, you will be required to provide advice on legislation and good practice in respect of civil contingencies. You will also evaluate all aspects of operational resilience to support emergency preparedness, in accordance with national objectives.
You will represent the Scottish Ambulance Service on specialist groups concerned with the development of civil contingencies, major incident procedures, equipment and training through extensive communication with response partners and stakeholders at local, regional and Scottish level. This will include advising on the content, development and review of emergency and action plans, internal procedures and external operations, personnel competencies and participation in structured debriefing. This will require the post holders to travel within their areas of responsibilities, and as such a full UK Driving licence is essential
For this post we are looking for flexible and industrious personnel ideally, but not essential, with Resilience, incident, exercise management and experience. You will have good analytical and presenting skills. You will also have excellent communication skills, both oral and written and well developed administrative skills and the ability to work to a high standard on your own initiative. You should be computer literate and be familiar with Microsoft applications and databases. You will also be required to deal with sensitive information for which security vetting will be required.
You will receive training in clinical first response for which a PVG application will be required.
