We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our integrated pharmacy team providing a high standard of pharmaceutical care to the population of Shetland.

This post will be based at the Health Centre in Lerwick, the main town in Shetland. The practice has around 9000 registered patients where the pharmacist is a well established member of the multidisciplinary team. The practice is a successful training practice with an evolved workforce of Nursing staff including ANPs, GP trainees, GP trainers, experienced GPs and excellent support staff. The successful candidate may be a prescriber and will have the opportunity to undertake patient facing specialist and long term conditions clinics. The pharmacotherapy component of the GP contract (GMS 2018) has been implemented in a number of areas up to level 3 as appropriate to the requirements of the practice. Previous experience working at or towards this level is desirable but not essential as appropriate training and support will be given including Primary Care Vocational Training, General Practice Clinical Pharmacist Advanced Practice Framework, Independent prescribing and advanced clinical history taking and examination skills.

You will be working closely with two other General Practice Clinical Pharmacists and a Community Care Technician, and with the wider pharmacy team including hospital pharmacists and hospital technicians who all have varying specialisms and interests. The post allows great opportunities to work in an integrated way across all sectors for the benefit of the patient. Shetland is a good adopter of telehealth solutions, providing an extra dimension to the delivery of medicines management to more remote patients. The postholder will have opportunities for quality improvement work and project work.

Rise to the challenge and enjoy the opportunity - Shetland is a wonderful place to live and work.  Shetland offers low pollution, low crime, excellent schools, great leisure facilities, unique wildlife and amazing scenery, whilst still only a short flight away from the UK mainland (45-90mins).  To find out more about living and working in Shetland go to www.shetland.org
